So…

…this happened today. (For those of you who don’t know, that is Felicia Day, and you should look her up, because she’s awesome).
Felicia Day

Also I made the necklace I’m wearing, last night. I’ll post a better picture of it later.
It, overall, was a fantastic “Day”… hahaha. Bad pun, sorry.

New things!

So the first new item is a necklace, as you can see. I got a bunch of quill pen tips on clearance, and thought they would look nice on jewelry, so this is my first attempt. First of all, I sanded off the tip, to make it a little less dangerous, then wrapped some wire around it, made a loop in the back, to put the cord through, put a couple of washers on, made a coils out of wire for decoration, made clasps, and voila! It was incredibly easy, and it’s a little different, which I like.

These are a couple of fingerless lace gloves. They came out  a little puffier than expected, but they’re cute. It is just an elastic, satin ribbon  and  lace trim. Each one took about 3 minutes to make. The camera made the lace and ribbon look like two different colors, where in person they’re the same color.

New Steampunk Inspired Hoodie!

Okay! I finally was able to get picture of my hoodie (thanks to my wonderful fiance)!  I didn’t get a ton of pictures of the process, but I did get a few. I made the pattern out of tissue paper, and went from there! This was definitely an experiment  but I think it turned out pretty well! I took quite a few pictures of the finished product, so you can see all of the angles. This is definitely something you could wear everyday or use in a steampunk outfit, by adding an under bust corset, a cute skirt and a few lovely accessories.  As you will see, I had a couple of helpers in this process! Isis (the little tuxedo kitty), enjoyed laying on the fabric while I was trying to lay it out. Leo (the black cat) was playing with the tissue paper I used to make the pattern, and Ava (the puppy) had a nice nap laying on the fabric pile. I hope you like it! Please let me know what you think!

Simple Steampunk Choker

Here’s something I threw together last night, it was super simple, but I think it’s cute. Just braided leather (I was going to make a macrame necklace, but I didn’t have any pieces long enough). Then I made the clasps, a couple of jump rings, and attached the charms. A very simple, but cute choker.

Cameo attempt!

Okay! So I just made this. This is my first attempt at making a cameo. I made it out of clay (sorry, I didn’t carve it out of ivory). I may use this one to make a mold, and make more of them out of plastic, but maybe not. We’ll see. Tell me what you think!
(Also, in the next day or two I will have pictures up of the other project I was working on, so be sure to check back!)

Latest projects!

Here are a couple of fun things I made in the last couple of days.
The first is a choker necklace. Eventually I will model it on a human, so you can see what it looks like. This is just a piece of lace on a strap that came off of an old shirt. It already had a button hole, which was nice, so all I had to do was put the button on it, sew the lace, and hand sew the button.

These next pieces are lace fingerless “gloves”.
These were incredibly easy, because they already had the elastic sewn in. So all I had to do was sew the sides and hand stitch the gears onto the front.

This is a leather arm cuff. This did not end up how I was planning, but I kind of like how it turned out. I put holes in the ends to be able to lace it up, then I actually put a hole in the front, because I was going to do a series of rivets… but it didn’t work out how I was planning, so instead I put the gear on it. I used another gear as a stencil, and I did a little bit of spray painting.

This last one is just leather cord with a very simple macrame knot, and a button on the end as a clasp.

That’s all I have for you today. I’d love to hear what you think! Thanks for stopping by!
